In the Beginning- Day 28ish

Origin story

Why did you start your blog? Is that still why you blog, or has your site gone in a different direction than you’d planned?

Faithfool.  That’s how I came to write this blog.

I was becoming disenchanted with the narratives presented that characterized Jesus.  I felt that neither the secular nor the religious was addressing a Jesus I saw emerging: a bad ass.  So, I went on Google and typed in bad ass Jesus.  This search led me to faithfool.  He has a post called “Bad-Ass Jesus”.  It is a great post followed by incensed English Language Learners who think he is calling Jesus bad names.  Now, I don’t know if I am at a place right now where I would write out such things, but I have chose to include them as a point of reference.

I was intrigued.  I thought “hey this is pretty cool”.  I have some ideas, too, and I know the  people around me probably get tired of me talking about them.  Plus, writing is a great way to really dig into ideas.  So, I just wanted to throw some ideas out there (and maybe piss off a few people) and have them transmit uninterrupted into some folks’ brains.

Now, I am trying to develop writing discipline.  For example, as the hour approaches midnight this blog successfully won the mental debate, beating out a viewing of “Blue Bloods” on Netflix (great show (Tom Selleck says his mustache has its own agent)).  I also want to connect to the masses or, rather, the individuals.  I want to impact people’s lives in a way that incites thought, massages emotion, and grows love.  I am not expecting people to start glowing after reading one of my posts, but I would love to create some nutritious literary morsels.  Relationships change this world, and we often neglect a relationship with a very important person: ourself.  Yes, we indulge ourselves, but that is gluttony not relationship.  Know thyself.
