365: Day 4-Barter

If the world worked on a barter system, how would you fare? Would you have services to barter? Would you be successful, or would you struggle?

She’s a-comin’, or so says Peter Schiff.  Crash.  Boom. Bang.  Money in wheelbarrows to buy bread.  Complete financial collapse.  Then, it’s time to barter!  Yee-haw!  Putting the you back in value.  If all you have ever done your adult life is “manage your investments”, you are in trouble.  If what you do doesn’t matter to someone else, it will not help you.  There are so many ways that our society and laws would have to shift to become a barter nation, so I will not attempt to create a complete analysis or detail the transformation.  (I probably couldn’t if I wanted to.)  I’ll just reflect on my own potential usefulness.

I can teach.  Hopefully, that will stay a need.  We still would have our language, and communication would probably become more important than ever.  I relish the day when teaching an engaging class on the effectiveness of figurative language in an argument and playing a game of basketball with Lebron and Curry would net us all two pigs and three chickens.  I can also teach martial arts and tennis.  Hey, everybody needs a hobby. Then there’s writing.  That is pretty marketable in the market place of ideas.  Alright, getting late.  Church in the morning.  Daughter will be up early.  Sleep well, peoples of the earth.
